Still Slipper Season

by | Feb 2, 2021 | Wearables - Clothing and Accessories | 0 comments

Not sure what the weather is like in your neck of the woods, but it is definitely chilly here – so it’s still slipper season. Of course the older I get – I believe it is slipper season year round for me.

We are teaching virtual sewing classes at the Puyallup Sew Expo this year – and two of them are slipper classes. Click below for a link to the catalog – The event is running from February 24th to the 28th. They have all kinds of cool classes out there – and because it is virtual I have had people sign up from as far away as Maine, Florida and even Juneau, Alaska. It will definitely be a new experience for us.

I have been busy cutting new kits from new fabrics for the classes and thought I should offer them to you too!

I will be teaching the suede bottom slippers class twice. This is the version with a bonded suede bottom (which means suede on the bottom and a soft like lamb’s fleece on the inside), soft cuddle top and a fun trim around your ankle. I just posted 8 new versions out on the website. The kits are just $15 each and it includes all the fabric you will need – and the pattern that’s included will fit women’s size 5 to 11. You can make them narrower just by changing the size of the seam allowance.

I found a new source for the bonded cuddle llama suede so I was able to once again offer the full suede versions in a kit. With these – you just sew up the seam on the back – and then sew the sole to the top – super easy!

i also cut a bunch of new kits for our sleeper slipper version. This is the version that is lined – I am now lining them with really warm fuzzy fabrics so they will keep your feet even warmer.

And these slippers are fully reversible – so you can turn them inside out for a new look! Or if you are like me – and not ready to wash them yet.

We have video tutorials out on the McKay Manor Muser channel if you’d like to watch how the slippers go together – we have one for the suede bottom slippers and one for the reversible sleeper slipper. Enjoy!

Find ways to stay warm and cozy!
